Entity is in charge of Leagues and Tourneys. There are various threads kicking about in Centre Forums and above about what should be next

I for one would love to see some more BF2 FFA's again!!

As for "when are they going to start again" your guess is as good as mine - Maybe when the membership decides on what it wants/where it wants to go.

They will start again when there is interest from the centre owners - at the moment there is minimum interest from centre owners and managers in respect of tourneys, so if you lot want stuff running through IGUK, start twisting the arms of your Centre Owners & Staff to let me know what they want.

If enough of our membership want something, then I'll run it - simple as that. The downside is that bearing in mind my role is voluntary, I'm not going to waste my time organising and admining a tourney if it's only 2 or 3 centres that want to put people in.

Yeah get it started plz :|, dont like tm should be wider range of games.... At least try a game like css .. :D

We did TM first as it was easy to record stats and easy to allow any person to jump on and play it at any time during the week - rather than limiting it to an hour on a wednesday afternoon or whatever.

As for other stuff, if enough people want something, I'll organise it - I've tried generating interest in stuff myself with centre managers but I got minimal response.

If you want to get enough people interested in playing any sort of tourney, feel free and liaise with me to get it put in place.

I don't mind running anything, but bearing in mind I'm doing this gratis for IGUK, I don't want to waste my time if we're only going to get 2 or 3 centres puting people into a tourney - Trackmania was easy as it was minimal maintenance - everything else will take a lot more time and effort to sort out.

7 of us were playing TF2 this evening - it's a pretty fun game that's easy to play and from the looks of things reasonably easy to manage servers, etc...

I mentioned to the guys about a TF2 tourney and they all seemed keen - it'd be interesting to see what other centres thought.

I'm going to have a look to see if I can get some servers up on the KeMe boxes we have and see what it maxes out at load-wise and maybe get something set up for a Sunday afternoon league - well that's if there are enough people interested.

I reckon we'd need at least 6 centres to field a 5/6 man team to make it worthwhile - run it on a round robin basis initially to see how it goes down and then take it from there.

Any thoughts?

TF2 is bigish here. It would be great to have tournies, but it would also be great if one of the servers was public during the week, that way we could get abit of socialising between centers during the week.

You know ... to put a little insight into this if i may , when my centre was partipateing in this compertions nearly everday with FFA £50 draws , now i see the iguk i once knew isnt the same anymore , problem is guys if you would agree in most places in the UK and i stress most places :) gaming centres are a thing of the past , why pay good money when you can get new games etc and play on your own pc ... but gaming centres push the social element and teamplay issue , i saw 2 years ago IGUK at its peak and now it breaks my heart to see what was once a striving gaming community frankly a little damaged ... SUPPORT YOUR GAMING CENTRES GUYS , I REALLY WISH I HAD ONE TO GO TO :(

Some valid points bullseye, but realistically how many people out there can afford to buy a high spec gaming pc (and keep it up to a decent spec on a regular basis) and buy all the latest games?

Most people have a reasonable spec PC and that is able to run their favourite games and probably only buy a game or two every so often, well that is unless they get hookey copies off the net.

Gaming centres do offer the social aspect of gaming over and above the likes of TeamSpeak, but they also have the majority if not all of the latest games available on pretty high-end gaming rigs that are kept up-to-date not just hardware wise, but patched too.

All the customer has to do is turn up, pay a few quid and wahay, a few hours fun with no hassle or investment in their time having to get everything sorted themselves.

Some customers just use the centres as test beds - play new games and if they like them, they go buy them for their own PCs.

IGUK in itself isn't really for the customers of lan gaming centres - we are the support body for the centre owners and their staff. The fact we also run tourneys, etc.. is an additional service that centres can use to bring in customers to their centres. Please don't take this the wrong way though - you just have to understand where the organisation is coming from.

There are a number of reasons why the FFA50's died and I'm not going to go over old ground bringing them up in here again.

The main reason we (or I, bearing in mind I'm the leagues & tourneys guy on the MC) are not running any tournaments or leagues at the moment and that is due to the lack of interest from the membership.

As I've stated numerous times in various forum posts on here, I am quite willing to run any tourneys the membership want, as long as a) it's technically possible to do so bearing in mind the limited facilities & budget I have available and b) enough of the membership want to get their customers involved.

At the end of the day it's down to the centre owners, managers & staff to want to get involved. That is the only way that IGUK will evolve into a bigger & better organisation than it ever was.

I for one am here to help in any way I can, but at the end of the day I'm only 1 man with limited time available (and my own business to run too) - however if the rest of them want to put their 2p's worth in too, I'll make time to make sure that we start heading in the right direction, whatever that may be.

Yeah TF2 is a great idea alot of us like TF2, i played it quite a lot got all the milestones xD

2 centres + ours - that's a good start. I'll try and get a public server going next week and get the details posted on here asap.

I'll work on a tourney format and then we'll see who is interested in putting in a team.

Hihi, ages since I've been here D: Just wanted to say that I agree with TF2, it's becoming really popular at pong and it shouldn't be hard to get some interest. We also have a cod4 team if anyone's interested.

Just for reference i wasnt having a go at how iguk is ran nowdays , it was more why iguk has gone a little off course , at a point when in all due respect entity i dont believe you were around 3 years ago witnessing how managed and structured IGUK Was .... Regardless of how many people played a FFA , it stil went ahead and in all due respect also , IGUK was one of the biggest parts of many gaming centres day to day busniess :) - they had the social aspect you speak so highly of but also had IGUK to fall on at night :D

But actually to be honest many key players in IGUK history have left , the management team have virtually gone that were in place a little while ago and as you mentioned you give your time and you have your own busniess to think of ! :)

Bullseye I've been a member for 5 years - there are a lot of reasons as to what has happened over the last few years - I know most of them (as I don't think everyone actually "knows" evevrything that went on)

I'm not going to go through all this again as it's pointless - things have been sorted out in most respects and we are hopefully moving forward in a more positive direction - all that is lacking is the membership getting more involved.

I believe thats fighting talk lol, if tf2 went ahead I'd be quite interested to know what kind of rules would be going on, we tend to only play public games, though I've played in one or 2 scrims for tf2 and it can get alot different.
